Yes, it is for pre-1.6.x versions. Thanks for notification. It should be
more like:

protocol rip {
     debug all;
     import filter { print "importing"; accept; };
     export filter { print "exporting"; accept; };

     interface "eth*" {
	port 1520;
	update time 12;
	garbage time 60;
	metric 3;
	mode multicast;
	authentication cryptographic;
	password "secret-shared-key" { algorithm hmac sha256; };
     };
}
