You could also just ping the Fedora / EPEL maintainer (open a bug via
https://bugz.fedoraproject.org/bird), asking for an update for EPEL.
I just tested the Fedora 1.6.3 rpms, and they build fine, no ncurses
issues on EPEL7.
>From a Fedora host:
$ fedpkg clone -a bird
$ cd bird
$ fedpkg --release epel7 mockbuild
