Use the below operational commands.

* disable (<protocol> | "<pattern>" | all) [message]  Disable protocol
* enable (<protocol> | "<pattern>" | all) [message]  Enable protocol
* restart (<protocol> | "<pattern>" | all) [message]  Restart protocol
* reload <protocol> | "<pattern>" | all          Reload protocol

$ sudo birdc 'restart <configured_bgp_peer_name>'
