I didn’t think about rsync until now. Is there anything particularly interesting about rsync which would make the downloads nicer? I mean, running rsync endpoint takes some maintenance, and that’s why we are asking whether anybody still uses FTP. We’d like to discontinue it.

I can see that by rsync, you simply get the whole archive mirror, and if you need a better machine-readable listing of the version archive over HTTP, we’ll happily create that, with the same effective result.

Or is there anything I’ve missed?
