Hi BIRD Team, Could you give us a brief update on the status of version 3 ? Do you have any expected dates for a new release !? Thanks, -- Marcelo Balbinot

We found some grave bugs in BGP export implementation (which had to be rewritten to support asynchronous Adj-RIP-Out / export table dumps) so basically it's delayed by this. We also did some refactoring, and partially, we had to include the new features from version 2 which also slowed the process.
Do you have any expected dates for a new release !?
For the next release? As soon as we fix the BGP export table, there should be 3.0alpha3. For stable? Well, we're postponing it a lot, last estimation for stable version was December 2023 and as you can see, we aren't there yet. The problems which we're fixing generally don't manifest when running BIRD on light loads, but in some corner cases and with high loads, it either behaves weirdly or crashes. And we want long-term stability, not that you have to restart your routing layer every other day. Hoping that this helps you at least a bit. Have a nice day! Hello everyone! I've been reading a lot of references to Bird 3 over the last few days. And that made me want to ask if there's any news about Bird 3. Anything you can share? Any test scenarios that are exciting? Em qui., 18 de abr. de 2024 às 12:10, Maria Matejka via Bird-users < bird-users@network.cz> escreveu:

Hello Douglas, we are working hard on fixing BMP (both in v2 and v3, there are quite some half-funny stories which we may share later) and regarding BIRD 3, there are several bugs like filter action restart doing weird things or show route export not working sometimes. After this gets fixed, and judging by the state of BMP, I'm expecting to push out another alpha in a month or so, with a message like "now we consider this stable, please check". Is this info what you were looking for? Maria On 22 October 2024 10:32:17 GMT-04:00, Douglas Fischer <fischerdouglas@gmail.com> wrote:

Yep! A couple words to cheer us here far from the front. I am especially interested in the "half-funny stories". haha Em ter., 22 de out. de 2024 às 14:48, Maria Matejka <maria.matejka@nic.cz> escreveu:

Dear Santa Claus May you bring health and peace to everyone this Christmas. Chocolates and lollipops to the children who behaved well. I also ask that you bring lots of inspiration to our friends at the NIC in the Czech Republic so that version 3 of BIRD can continue to be a stable version with lots of progress. https://gitlab.nic.cz/labs/bird/-/tags/v3.0.0 Thank you very much! P.S.: Just a little joke... A big thank you to the developers involved, especially Maria and Ondrej. Em ter., 22 de out. de 2024 às 20:58, Douglas Fischer < fischerdouglas@gmail.com> escreveu:
