On September 25, 2005 an online auction will start on the Square Dancers for Katrina website – www.squaredancers4katrina.org <http://www.squaredancers4katrina.org/>. We will be auctioning off a chance for five callers to put their voices on a brand new tune. Here are the details: * All of the costs of the production of the music and the production of the first 500 records and 500 CD’s will be underwritten by Grand Square, Inc. – A 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to helping to preserve square dancing. * The auction will start on September 25, 2005 at midnight EST and end on October 2, 2005 at midnight EST. Bids received after midnight on October 2 will not be accepted. Winning bidders will be contacted by email or phone as soon as the auction is completed. In addition, the winning bidders will be listed on the SD4K website. Acceptable forms of payment are check, MasterCard, or VISA (via PayPal). Payment must be received by 5:00 PM EST October 4, 2005. If payment is in the form of a check, the check must be next day aired to arrive by end of day on October 4, 2005. * The auction will be in real time. You will be able to post your bid immediately. * The highest five bids will have the opportunity to put your vocal on a specially produced record and CD. In the event of a tie, the earliest submitted bid will be declared the winner. * Winning bidders must pay their own expenses to Nashville and must be able to be at the studio by 9:00 AM on October 24^th . * The records and CD’s will be exclusively distributed (retail) by Palomino Records. The first 500 vinyl records will be a limited edition pressing in a special color. In addition, the CD’s will be available on consignment for dancers and callers to sell at their dances. * ALL of the proceeds of the sale of the records and CD’s will be donated to the Square Dancers for Katrina Fund. * Palomino Records has graciously volunteered to distribute the records free of charge, so all of the money generated by the retail sales of both the vinyl and CD will be donated back to the SD4K Fund. * Your winning bid will 100% tax deductible. * The song will be "When the Saints Go Marching In" – recorded with a "Dixie Land" sound using professional Nashville musicians (same musicians used by Royal Records). * The tune will be recorded in Nashville, TN at a major recording studio on October 24, 2005, and you will be able to be in the studio to watch the production of the song. The music will be recorded at 10:00 AM and we will record the vocals on the same day. You will not only be able to watch the music being recorded, but you will be able to watch the final mixing of the tune as well. * All winning bidders will receive a pre-release CD of the music and vocals at the end of the session. All winning bidders will additionally receive a complimentary copy of both the 45 RPM record and the CD prior to mass release. * The CD will feature a full color "j-card" with all of the artists’ names prominently displayed. * The project will be a Feature in the Winter Edition of Square Dancing Today. In addition, the five winning bidders will be featured in a separate full page ad. Remember, all of the proceeds from this tune will be donated to the Square Dancers for Katrina Fund to be used EXCLUSIVELY for the victims of hurricane Katrina. This promises to be an exciting event!
