Hmmm, IP aliases causes always some trouble. Could you please explain it better? Can you send sample of config and some 'show...' etc?
The main problem is that any Linux kernel newer than 2.0.x doesn't have ANY interface aliases. The kernel supports secondary addresses of interfaces and for ancient tools like ifconfig they are emulated as interface aliases, but it's just an emulation. BIRD sees secondary addresses as secondary addresses.
