I don't really have a particular use case in mind for exposing the metric, as indicated by my comment above. It just occurred to me as something that *might* be useful for someone :)
I certainly emphatise with your instinct to export as many useful knobs as possible. However, just like you, I don't see any convincing uses for exporting both metrics, and I'm a little afraid it might confuse users into micro-managing the implementation. -- Juliusz
