Query regarding BGP/MPLS L3VPN support in BIRD
Hi All, Does any of the BIRD release supports BGP/MPLS L3VPN (i.e. RFC-4364) functionality? Thanks Vikram
Hi Alexander, Thanks for the information. BTW have you ever used BIRD's BGP/MPLS functionality? It will be really great if you can share me usage details (i.e. any documentation) for the same. Does any of the BIRD release supports BGP/MPLS L3VPN (i.e. RFC-4364) functionality? There is an unofficial patchset based (currently) on bird-1.3.9: It can be downloaded from http://bird.mpls.in/distfiles/bird/bird-20130301.tar.gz Docs (and git) are available athttp://bird.mpls.in/projects/mpls-bird/wiki/Bird_rr However, there are some drawbacks like non-fully working filters and some other issues that may arise. As far as I know, there is WIP on bringing VPNvX BGP support to official bird. Ondrej Zajicek can probably tell more about that. Hi Alexander, Can you please provide me with a configuration example for the below topology. Let say, I want to establish a VPN between CE1 and CE2 through PE1 and PE2. CE1 --- PE1 ---- PE2 --- CE2 1. How to define a VPN say VPN1? 2. How to bind the VPN to CE connecting interface on the PE? 3. How to establish MPLS tunnel between PE’s? 4. Is BIRD support NETCONF/ReST servers? Whether the configuration can be pushed using NETCONF/ReST client? If not then what approach we can use to push configuration via a different process? Yes, we are using more or less the same version in production. As I said before, examples of using it w.r.t to VPN features: http://bird.mpls.in/projects/mpls-bird/wiki/Bird_rr The rest remains the same as in stock bird. It is not exactly "documentation" - feel free to ask any questions :) Thanks Vikram From: Alexander V.
