bird 100% load

I am triing to use bird 1.0.7, in my linux distribution based on uClibc, as routing daemon in network where neigbours are serviced by zebra (quagga). After few second after bird starts it consumes cpu runtime to nearly 100%. This seems to last forever. From debug messages I do not see anything unusuall to happen. Most values is set to default. I am using only protocols static and ospf. It also seems quagga's ospfd has some troubles comunicate to bird and crashes sometime, but this is not confirmed. Any ideas? Adam Pribyl

Print prints nothing, but ... It seems that bird show "from" only for routes going though "gw" than is not a "from". E.g. bird shows "from" if "from" != "gw" :-). Sorry, I never seen befor all my 160 routes Becouse it is too match to read. When I sow all routes I sow some "from". Modifer "all" gives more information but it does not show "from" too if "from" != "gw". Ohh ... May be the realm patch has destroed function print ? So I can live without print :-). Print function

Hi friends. Today I have diside to fix some RIP with our clients (in my company) and I find that I can not find any messages from print function called from filters. First I hav tried to find host sending me RIP with wrong routes. I tried: bird> show route table master where from != 217.29.80.1 81.1.232.240/29 via 217.29.81.17 on eth0 [TestRIP 11:23] (120/2) 127.0.0.0/8 dev lo [direct1 May15] (240) 81.1.238.0/23 dev eth0 [direct1 May15] (240) 217.107.206.0/23 dev eth0 [direct1 May15] (240) 172.16.27.0/24 dev eth0 [direct1 May19] (240) 217.29.80.0/23 dev eth0 [direct1 May15] (240) via 217.29.80.206 on eth0 [TestRIP 11:23] (120/2) And that was all about routes. How can I see "from" of this routes ? Then I tried to write filter which must print "from" but any my filters prints nothing, for example: bird> show route table master filter {print "qqqqq";} bird> Where should I find "qqqqq" ? :-) Any ideas ? ok, that is good idea. Hi, Oleg. Try to write two different filters for Your providers and apply them separatly in Exporting from each RIP to master table or even to separate table. May be You should simply drop nets of first provider coming from second and visa vesta ? P.S. hello there i've been subscribed to this list for a month or so, but can't see many posts, so if my problem is known please do not flame ;-); well the case is quite easy, once upon a time bird ( running ospf ) just stopped comunicating with adjacent router; no hangs, no dumps; just stopped telling about his routes; restart has helped; any suggestions? thanks in advance

Hello. I can not to answer on this question becouse I am not a author of this patch :-). Author says nothing long time about my ask to post this patch. I think becous in filter we have all filter posabilities to deside which realm we want to give to this route. Realms by their nature are the static thing and routes are dynamic so Alexander Zakharov (patch author) had deside to use filter features and not to do any new another "cool features". I only know that he wroute patch for his own needs, but it was my idea to count traffic by the realms: all is fan but outgoing taffic is wrongly counted. Forwarding traffic is counted like iproute2 docs tell, incomming is too, but outgoing is counted to realm "cosmos" or to another srtange place (I don't remember, it was 1 year ago). BGP aggregate routes?

Hello! I wonder if anybody has managed to make bird to aggregate adjacent BGP routes originated from static routes. I.e. to compact 2 route prefixes 10.10.0.0/24 10.11.0.0./24 to one less specific route 10.10.0.0/23 ? -- WBR, Yury Bokhoncovich, Senior System Administrator, NOC of F1 Group.
