Hello, world!\n I have created a new GIT repository for BIRD instead of the antiquated CVS we were using. Public read-only access ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ git://git.nic.cz/bird.git Read-write access for contributors ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ssh://git.nic.cz/projects/bird/GIT/bird.git All commits are mailed to the developer's mailing list, if you want, feel free to subscribe to `bird' at `atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz' (send the standard subscribe request to majordomo). Santiago, you should have an account as well (log in using the ssh key you have sent), please create a branch (`santiago', for example) and commit all your patches there. I will then merge the ones, that have been reviewed, to the master branch. Feela, could you please update the web pages to point at the repository, and update the NEWS file with information on the latest releases? Fix for routing table breaking bug

Hello Here is a patch fixing a bug that causes breakage of a local routing table during shutdown of Bird. The problem was caused by shutdown of 'device' protocol before shutdown of 'kernel' protocol. When 'device' protocol went down, the route (with local network prefix) from different protocol (BGP or OSPF) became preferred and installed to the kernel routing table. Such routes were broken (like 192.168.1.0/24 via 192.168.1.2). I think it is also the cause of problem reported by Martin Kraus. The patch disables updating of kernel routing table during shutdown of Bird. I am not sure whether this is the best way to fix it, I would prefer to forbid 'kernel' protocol to overwrite routes with 'proto kernel'. Hello Here are some more patches for bird: 4-as4_option.diff - Add per-bgp_instance option to disable as4 support. 5-add_doc.diff - Update of documentation. 6-fix-lpref.diff - Fix LOCAL_PREF handling. - Isn't 'default bgp_local_pref' configuration option useless? Every route has some LOCAL_PREF attribute. 7-fix-med.diff - Fix MED handling. Support for BGP route reflection.

Hello Here is a patch adding support for BGP route reflection. Bird can be configured to be route reflector using 'rr client' in bgp protocol section. The protocol bgp { local as 1; neighbor 192.168.1.4 as 1; rr client; } I don't like it as it looks like the local bird is rr client of neighbor but it really means that the neighbor is rr client of the local bird. Any ideas? ipv6 rip doesn't recieve route updates from neighbors

hi. I've had this problem for some time. I've tried to get ipv6 working with bird. I'm fairly certain there are no problems with multicasting in my setup. When I set two birds against each other they are sending correct rip packets to the other bird, I can hear those packets come to the interface but for some reason they do not get to bird or the rip protocol doesn't import them into the routing table. did anyone actually get bird working with ipv6? thanks mk -- printk(KERN_WARNING "Hey who turned the DMA off?\n"); linux-2.6.6/drivers/net/wan/z85230.c

bird deletes local link routes and fails with Err_Hook err=101

hi. I've got two problems. From time to time (often), when bird crashes or it is stopped, it deletes routes to local interfaces. I suspect that it deletes those routes for interfaces that ospf is listening on but since I'm running ospf almost everywhere, it's hard to tell. It doesn't do it in testing environment, it only does it on production machines. Could this be somehow related to the number of routes in the routing table or in ospf route database? Also, does anyone know what the following error means? 04-10-2008 00:24:28 <ERR> ospf_infonet: Err_Hook called on interface eth1 with err=101 I've made a reconfiguration to run bird on three routers connected like this: A / \ B - C router A has two ospf protocols each having one interface in it, router B has one ospf protocol with two interfaces and router C has two ospf protcols each having one interface in it. With such configuration the above error occurs. The original configuration had only one ospf protocol on each router, each protocol with two interfaces. It worked and it also started to work after I copied back the original configuration files and restarted the routers, because simple bird restart didn't get rid off the error message and it didn't get past the ospf router discovery. What I would like to do is to route some destinations from C over C-B and some over C-A and have each of these links to backup the other one in case of failure. I works perfectly on my testing machines (ok, my notebook and an unimportant router connected over two vpns). I reconfigured both routers A and C and both failed with the above error for each of the defined ospf protocols and given interfaces. Is there any way I can at least find out what went wrong?
