Meaning of "show protocols" output

Does anyone know what "preferred" in the context of rs6-l:~> birdc show protocols all R192_y BIRD 1.3.7 ready. name proto table state since info R192_y BGP Txxxxx up 2013-01-15 11:19:19 Established Description: xxxxx Preference: 100 Input filter: (unnamed) Output filter: (unnamed) Import limit: 150000 Action: restart Routes: 14303 imported, 59164 exported, 22150 preferred means. The code in BIRD works that when route is exported to single-hop eBGP, then bgp_next_hop is stripped and replaced with local IP if the route came from an different interface. Then the export filter is executed. So you could change it in the export filters and it should work (AFAIK, but i didn't test that), but it is probably less convenient. To be more specific we would like to receive a route from subinterface eth1.10 and announce it to subinterface eth1.192 with next hop 192.168.0.50. We modify the next hop using the following function. Intermittent no listening socket error - IPv6 BGP

Hi guys, I have intermittent "No listening socket error" on IPv6 BGP when setting my server's IPv6 address on different interface from my IPv4. Everything is ok if I put my IPv6 address in the same interface as my IPv4 address. I am using my IPv6 address as BGP listening address under bird6.conf. It this common? Yaw dawg, Can I put filter in filter? Sstatic protocol routes not loaded until extra reload is done on unchanged config.

Hi all, Loosely based on https://redmine.labs.nic.cz/projects/bird/wiki/Route_server_with_community_… I set up a bird test configuration for an eBGP router which is located in AS64515 and talks to another router in AS65517, using an extra routing table, T65517 and pipe protocol to get fine-grained, and easily debuggable control about which routes I want to announce to the peer, and which received routes I want to import into the local AS: (AS64515) Tmaster - P65517 - T65517 <-> eBGP peer AS65517
