IPv6 multipath static routes with different weights and BFD supervision

Hi BIRD experts, I face some problems on static routes on IPv6. I try to configure multipath static routes that are supervised with BFD. I use the following conf: route <DEST_IPv6> multipath via <NEXT_HOP1_IPv6> weight 10 bfd via <NEXT_HOP2_IPv6> weight 20 bfd; This does not seem to have the expected behavior since I notice that the static routes are configured with the same priority rather than having the less weighted one with higher priority than the more weighted. When I try to check the routes passed to the kernel I notice this: <DEST_IPv6> via <NEXT_HOP1_IPv6> dev eth3 proto bird metric 1024 <DEST_IPv6> via <NEXT_HOP2_IPv6> dev eth5 proto bird metric 1024 The same configuration for IPv4 works as expected... could you, please, give me some initial orientation regarding the issue? The BIRD version is BIRD 1.6.3 on Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie)

Bird-1.6: failed configure check and exit status 0

Hello, I'm using bird 1.6.3 on Debian Stretch and am trying to automate the installation and configuration with ansible. Therefore the "configure check" feature of bird comes in handy. Unfortunately the return code is always "0" whether the config is OK or KO. $ sudo /usr/sbin/birdc configure check BIRD 1.6.3 ready. Reading configuration from /etc/bird/bird.conf Configuration OK $ echo $? 0 After invalidating the config file: $ sudo /usr/sbin/birdc configure check BIRD 1.6.3 ready. Reading configuration from /etc/bird/bird.conf /etc/bird/bird.conf, line 7: syntax error $ echo $? 0 I can build my playbook around this with grepping for "Configuration OK" in the output[1], but it would be nice to habe bird return a non zero value if the config check fails. CentOS 7 repo over HTTP

Hi, Is the centos repo available over http instead of ftp? I am using ansible where the yum modules don't seem to deal very well with ftp based gpg key and repo urls. This is the repo I'm referencing: http://bird.network.cz/?download&tdir=centos/7/ Thanks Logan

BUG syntax error on line 57, in bird.conf

I am testing our bird routing daemon version to 2.0.0, on archlinux per the pkged version of bird by the archlinux devs. There seems to be an issue with the default bird.conf file that is provided by the bird source code, it errors out on line 57. Does the config file have to be edited before it can be used? I know its an example file, but should it be erroring out. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help out. I have submitted a bug to archlinux as well: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/57096

Convert route between protocols

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a way to locally (on a single host) convert a single route between protocols, so that route changes its attributes i.e. originate static route locally and convert it to BGP. Sample configuration: ############################## protocol static my_default { route 0.0.0.0/0 drop; } protocol bgp my_bgp { neighbor 1.1.1.1 as 1; export all; } ############################## In the above host will generate default route and store it locally as static route then it will advertise it to its neighbor as a BGP route. I'm looking for a way for that router to be able to store that route as BGP already. Is it possible? -- Thanks Kuba

Hi, I’m running bird 1.6.3 on FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE. I see many “I/O loop cycle” in my logs: root@budic:~ # tail -F /var/log/messages | grep 'bird:' Jan 12 15:53:30 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 10101 ms for 4 events Jan 12 15:54:30 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 10227 ms for 5 events Jan 12 15:55:29 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 9270 ms for 4 events Jan 12 15:56:28 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 9101 ms for 6 events Jan 12 15:57:30 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 10187 ms for 7 events Jan 12 15:58:28 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 9315 ms for 3 events Jan 12 15:59:28 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 9273 ms for 3 events Jan 12 16:00:29 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 9170 ms for 3 events Jan 12 16:01:29 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 9064 ms for 3 events Jan 12 16:02:29 budic bird: I/O loop cycle took 9561 ms for 7 events By reading http://bird.network.cz/?get_doc&v=16&f=bird-3.html I don’t understand very well what that means. I tried to disable the two BGP sessions where I receive the IPv4 fullview (I was still receiving it via iBGP during this time) but it didn’t change anything. Set SRC PREF for routes when injecting routes to kernel

Hi all! Is it possible to set the SRC-Attribute on routes that will be inserted to kernel? I have private /31 networks to connect to other routers in my network and i don't want to see these private ip-addesses on a traceroute from a network with public ips. Every Router have a public IP-Address on his Loopback-Interface, so i can use that address for ICMP-Replies. Lets say 78.22.45.0/24 and 78.22.46.0/24 is my public network address space. router#1.lo = 78.22.46.1/32 router#1.eth1 = 10.0.0.1/31 ----- eBGP ----- router#2.eth1 = 10.0.0.2/31 router#2.eth2 = 78.22.45.1/24 router#1.lo = 78.22.46.2/32 On traceroutes i like to reply from a specific ip-address. In case of router#1 with 78.22.46.1 and for router#2 with 78.22.46.2 On Unix / Linux you can accomplish that feature with router#1# ip route add 78.22.45.0/24 via 10.0.0.2 src 78.22.46.1 So how can i set "src" with bird on import route filtering process?
