bird does not speak OSPF on a GRE tunnel interface

Hello, Could you please help with an OSPF configuration. I have configured a GRE tunnel between two peers - '172.16.0.9' and '172.16.0.4'. I configured then a local address on the newly created tunnel interface '172.16.1.1'. I would like to configure bird to speak on the GRE interface. Dynamic BGP neighbors ?

Hello, Does BIRD support anything like dynamic BGP neighbors ? I would like to establish sessions from neighbors that are unknown ahead of time, such as from a range of IPs or adhoc addresses. Thanks, -Jonan

Hi Michael, thank you for your answer! When I explicitly define the tunnel interface as an OSPF interface, then I see that bird 'talks' on it. That is very nice, thanks! mpls-new and generate encap mpls route?

HI, currently i playing with mpls on linux and bird mpls-new branch, as i created an test l3vpn i haven't found a way to configure bird for creating encap mpls routes from bird. MPLS Routes are generated and successfully installed within the kernel. Is this not implemented, or did i miss something. I read some of the commits and thought that the kernel/netlink part can handle this. Additional i don't find a way to define the used labels, it seems that bird is generating new labels by default with start at 32. Hi, all Is there an opportunity to drop community in filter by mask? Something like bgp_community.delete((2400, *)); or bgp_community.delete((2400, [1000-2000])); If not, is there some plans to create some functional like this? WBR, duckhawk

New "channels" feature in future version of Bird?

Hi, I am very curious about the new "channels" feature from the int-new branch. I understand it is supposed to replace import and export filters by connecting protocols to routing tables. What is the motivation for this change, and how does it work from a high-level perspective? Will it be part of Bird 2? Thanks, Baptiste

Static routes on (active) interfaces without IP address set

Hi, Is there any specific reason why bird (1.6.0 @linux in particular) does not process static routes like: route 10.101.0.0/24 via "eth1"; when eth1 has no assigned IP address (but is up & active)? This route is completely legal but it is invisible anywhere, simply ignored (even does not appear in debug messages). Once eth1 gets IP address, the route is added, but not otherwise... -- With best regards, Alexander.

Dear All, I don't want to advertise my network to some 1317xx, and I found the following error: /usr/local/etc/bird.conf, line 14: Value 1317xx out of range (0-65535) Does bird have AS limitation on bgp community filtering? Regarding rr client configuration

Hi, I am new to bird and trying to configure route reflector client in my bgp configuration. Just curious if the below configuration is correct? i am running ebgp between the switch and traffic generator and i see that the bgp routes are getting installed in my switch. The local AS is 20 and remote AS is 10. Running another software on the switch which is listening for these BGP routes (ibgp) on port 1179 and ip 127.0.0.1 which is loopback interface. My configuration is given below. The iBGP session are getting established and it is also not consistent. I have to restart bird multiple times to get it to establish the connection. Secondly I saw some template configuration for rr in the bird and used that too. Not sure if it is required? if so is there any changes required in the configuration below.
