mpls-new and generate encap mpls route?
by Tim Weippert 22 Jun '16

22 Jun '16

HI, currently i playing with mpls on linux and bird mpls-new branch, as i created an test l3vpn i haven't found a way to configure bird for creating encap mpls routes from bird. MPLS Routes are generated and successfully installed within the kernel. Is this not implemented, or did i miss something. I read some of the commits and thought that the kernel/netlink part can handle this. Additional i don't find a way to define the used labels, it seems that bird is generating new labels by default with start at 32. Can this be influenced? thanks, tim -- Tim Weippert http://weiti.org - weiti(a)weiti.org GPG Fingerprint - E704 7303 6FF0 8393 ADB1 398E 67F2 94AE 5995 7DD8

community drop by mask
by Василий Олейников 20 Jun '16

20 Jun '16

Hi, all Is there an opportunity to drop community in filter by mask? Something like bgp_community.delete((2400, *)); or bgp_community.delete((2400, [1000-2000])); If not, is there some plans to create some functional like this? WBR, duckhawk

New "channels" feature in future version of Bird?
by Baptiste Jonglez 20 Jun '16

20 Jun '16

Hi, I am very curious about the new "channels" feature from the int-new branch. I understand it is supposed to replace import and export filters by connecting protocols to routing tables. What is the motivation for this change, and how does it work from a high-level perspective? Will it be part of Bird 2? Thanks, Baptiste

Static routes on (active) interfaces without IP address set
by Alexander Demenshin 19 Jun '16

19 Jun '16

Hi, Is there any specific reason why bird (1.6.0 @linux in particular) does not process static routes like: route 10.101.0.0/24 via "eth1"; when eth1 has no assigned IP address (but is up & active)? This route is completely legal but it is invisible anywhere, simply ignored (even does not appear in debug messages). Once eth1 gets IP address, the route is added, but not otherwise... -- With best regards, Alexander.

AS out of range
by David S. 19 Jun '16

19 Jun '16

Dear All, I don't want to advertise my network to some 1317xx, and I found the following error: /usr/local/etc/bird.conf, line 14: Value 1317xx out of range (0-65535) Does bird have AS limitation on bgp community filtering? Regarding rr client configuration
by Harish Venkatraman 16 Jun '16

Hi, I am new to bird and trying to configure route reflector client in my bgp configuration. Just curious if the below configuration is correct? i am running ebgp between the switch and traffic generator and i see that the bgp routes are getting installed in my switch. The local AS is 20 and remote AS is 10. Running another software on the switch which is listening for these BGP routes (ibgp) on port 1179 and ip 127.0.0.1 which is loopback interface. My configuration is given below. The iBGP session are getting established and it is also not consistent. I have to restart bird multiple times to get it to establish the connection. Secondly I saw some template configuration for rr in the bird and used that too. Not sure if it is required? if so is there any changes required in the configuration below. Lastly is the cluster id configs required? protocol bgp bgp_20 { description "My IBGP"; local as 20; neighbor 127.0.0.1 port 1179 as 20; # multihop; hold time 90; startup hold time 90; connect retry time 30; keepalive time 30; # defaults to hold time / 3 connect delay time 5; # How long do we wait before initial connect next hop self; # Disable next hop processing and always advertii ise our local address as nexthop path metric 1; # Prefer routes with shorter paths (like Cisco dd does) default bgp_med 0; # MED value we use for comparison when none is dd defined rr client; # I am a route reflector and the neighor is my ccc lient rr cluster id 1.0.0.1; # Use this value for cluster id instead of my rooo uter id import all; export all; } # Template usage example template bgp rr_client { router id 3.3.3.3; local as 10; multihop; rr client; rr cluster id 1.0.0.1; } # protocol bgp rr_ibgp from rr_client { neighbor 127.0.0.1 as 40; }

import OSPF external routes
by Roman Romanyak 14 Jun '16

14 Jun '16

Hello bird users, I ran into the issue with importing OSPF external route. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. This is the OSPF filter: filter OSPF_IN { if source = RTS_OSPF then accept; # reject; accept; } And this is a route in question - a loopback interface of another router/OSPF neighbor: bird> show route for 10.120.0.55 all 10.120.0.55/32 via x.x.x.x on bond1 [EDGE_OSPF 19:49:20] * E1 (150/10) [10.2.55.2] Type: OSPF-E1 unicast univ OSPF.metric1: 10 OSPF.metric2: 16777215 OSPF.tag: 0x00000000 OSPF.router_id: 10.2.55.2 bird> bird> show ospf state router 10.2.55.1 distance 10 ...[some output is omitted ] external 10.120.0.55/32 metric 0 When I replace 'accept' with 'reject' in the filter, I'm not able to see 10.120.0.55/32 route in the FIB. Thanks, Roman.

routing using kernel fibs
by Angel 04 Jun '16

04 Jun '16

Hello, We are configuring a BSDRP server (FreeBSD router.bsdrp.net 10.3-RELEASE-p2 FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-p2 #0 r299108M). We have two fullrouting bgp carriers, some bgp members and some ospf members. To isolate OSPF members we want to use kernel fibs. But we do not understand how it works. What we need is a diferent table for each ospf member, so for example ospf1member will use carrier1 routes, and ospf2member will use carrier2 routes. Which is the best way to get this? If we configure kernel fib 1 with carrier1 routes, but ospf1 doesn't use it, how we can to configure because ospf1 use kernel fib 1? How to do the same for ospf2 with kernel fib 2? We have to configure interfaces in these fibs? What about carriers interface? Could you give us some example to get above configuration? Regards, Angel.
