Hi everyone, I am Eloi Carbó, a student from the UPC in Catalonia, doing a Google Summer of Code [0] with the QMP project [1] team, and the support of Guifi.net [2] and BMX6 [3] developers and under the scope of Freifunk [4]. I would like to inform you that we are bringing UCI and LUCI configuration support to Bird4 (now) and Bird6 (ASAP) putting our efforts on BGP routing. All the background and project information can be seen in [0] so, just to summarize, I am going to be working during the GSoC as described in [0] and later, I will continue porting the rest of the protocols and improving them. Our main goal is the OpenWRT team to accept our package in the main repository. Currently I am rewriting the whole UCI configuration scripts as I found some difficulties in LUCI that, changing the configuration scheme, would improve its simplicity. Now I am fixing UCI scripts, improving LUCI and porting that to Bird6 owing to have both versions with an stable initial version. The code will be available in [5], but currently it is not usable yet. The hardware I am using are: - TP-Link WDR 4300 (and 4900) - Mikrotik Routerboard 750G - And connecting to Guifi.net network (about 600 routes). Run external script after accepting BGP update or withdraw

Hi, Does BIRD support to run external command after BGP update or withdraw message received (and accepted by filter) with arguments or env variables with details of received announce message?

I've just hit the wall with that on Redback/Ericsson gears; for their code, signed 0x80000005 is more recent than signed 0x7fffffff according to the debugs (while I've no problem at all with a Juniper router). For my use (announcing anycast service loopbacks as tagged N2 routes) I guess I could push the metric to Infinite to see the route disappear (but not the LSA), while it's not very satisfying. However I must say that I'm more than interested by such a code revision (since manually replacing LSA_MAXSEQNO to 0xffffffff in ospf/lsupd.c line 616 would be a horrible hack) :) Lennard, which vendor do you have problem with? Strange entries in OSPF LSADB

A new version released of a BGPSEC implementation for BIRD

Hi all, I wanted to announce a new, 0.3, version of BGPSEC supporting BIRD code. It's currently based on v1.3.9 of BIRD and is available as a patch or as a full source tarball at: http://bgpsec.tislabs.com This is an ongoing project following the IETF's SIDR Working Group's BGPSEC implementation: http://datatracker.ietf.org/wg/sidr/charter/ http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-sidr-bgpsec-protocol/ The code is still at the experimental/testing stage and should not be use used for production services. Infer BGP 'source address' value dynamically

I was hoping someone could assist with defining a local constant for a BGP 'source address' through dynamic means. An example would be 'router id from' where a mask and prefix can be identified to inherit the router ID. router id from "lo*" 192.168.0.0/24; saddr = <whatever router id inherited> I was hoping that router id would be an internal symbol, but I don't see it in the 'show symbols ...' output. Any thoughts? The goal is to make this configuration as dynamic as possible, so that it can be deployed to a number of systems without manual changes on each. -- Eric Cables

BGP and ECMP

Hi all I'm looking to do ECMP with BGP learned routes on Linux, either eBGP learned routes from the same peer AS, or iBGP routes with the same IGP cost. It appears there hasn't been any work on this. Are there any unofficial patches or workarounds to make this work? Thanks!
