Hi group! It is possible to upgrade bird binary without restart of any protocol? If yes, then how to do it :)?

Export with this command works. But now I have router, which does not have default gateway. And from this router I need to export default gateway to ospf areas Jirasek

OSPF loading State
by Ryan Whelan 09 Jan '12

09 Jan '12

I have 2 linux machines connected to one another over the internet via a IPSec protected GRE tunnel. Each of them are running OSPF from bird 1.3.2. The issue is that one of them will not fully peer with the other, unless the other is started after the one with the issue. Is just stays in state 'loading' while the other machine will be in state 'full'. In other words, node 2 will only go to state 'full' if node 1 is started after node 2. If node 2 is started after node 1, it will sit in state 'loading' forever. Node 1 has no issues. Here is a log from the node that is failing to sync up (node 2): http://pastebin.com/ZjVcc1wB bird> show ospf neighbors axa0: Router ID Pri State DTime Interface Router IP 111.222.333.444 1 loading/ptp 00:13 tun10 172.31.255.255 bird> the config on both machines is identical protocol kernel { learn;; persist; scan time 20; export all; } protocol device { scan time 10; } protocol static { } protocol ospf axa0 { tick 1; rfc1583compat yes; area 0.0.0.0 { stub no; interface "tun*" { hello 5; retransmit 5; cost 10; transmit delay 5; dead 15; wait 50; type ptp; }; }; }

Regarding BGP route update‏
by Sushant K.R. 05 Jan '12

Hi !!! I have configured 2 iBGP peers in Bird and they are using same "export filter". I am getting strange case.when i disable export filter of BGP peer from bird configuration file and issue reload command of that specific protocol, the route is not removed in BRP peers and "sgow protocol all" of that bgp still shows that it is exporting routes. normal configuration: protocol bgp aa { local as my_as; neighbor X.X.X.X as my_as; source address y.y.y.y; multihop 3; import all; export filter r_test; } protocol bgp bb { local as my_as; neighbor Z.Z.Z.Z as my_as; source address y.y.y.y; multihop 3; import all; export filter r_test; } After Change protocol bgp aa { local as my_as; neighbor X.X.X.X as my_as; source address y.y.y.y; multihop 3; import all; export filter r_test; } protocol bgp bb { local as my_as; neighbor Z.Z.Z.Z as my_as; source address y.y.y.y; multihop 3; import all; # export filter r_test; } then i issued " reload all bb" but still "bb" is receiving old routes.But when is restarted bird service then after BGP got up, then "bb" did not got route. Can you assist what i am missing to do?

I'm sorry, it works. I change configuration with birdc "configure soft" Jirasek On Mon, 2 Jan 2012 01:49:22 +0100, Ondrej Zajicek wrote: > On Mon, Jan 02, 2012 at 12:30:00AM +0100, Jaroslav Jirásek wrote: >> Hi >> >> I need to change preffered source in imported routes (in ospf >> protocol) >> >> I tried import filter { krt_prefsrc = some.ip.of.router; accept; }; >> >> but it doesnt work for me. BGP: Add support for peerings with link-local v6 addresses
by Matthias Schiffer 02 Jan '12

02 Jan '12

Hi, I already posted a first patch to add support for link-local addresses for BGP peerings one year ago, and now I've finally found time to update the patch for the current bird version and fix the problems mentioned in reply to the first patch. This patch series allows using NEF_STICKY neighbors for link-local addresses by saving the interface name in the neighbor structure, thus working even when the interface is removed and re-added causing the interface index to change. The BPG patch itself adds an interface attribute to the BGP protocol definition allowing to specify an interface to use for the BGP session. An additional patch that is needed to make this work under FreeBSD is also included; the current behaviour doesn't handle numbered v6 addresses on peer-to-peer interfaces correctly, which link-local addresses are generally. I didn't get the chance to test this under other BSDs though. The patches have been tested under Linux and FreeBSD, with Bird and Quagga peers, and a few different configurations. Best regards, Matthias Schiffer

multipath static route issue or my mistake?
by Ebed 31 Dec '11

List, I'm doing a lab using bird, i have 192.168.0.0/16, that it consists of 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 which will connect to the internet with usb modem0 and usb modem1. I'm trying to add in the protocol static, route 0.0.0.0/0 multipath via "modem0" via "modem1" it's failed. Finally i'm using these configs, route 0.0.0.0/0 "modem0" route 0.0.0.0/0 "modem1" My isp which connected through "modem0" sometimes is suck, the signal always goes up and down, when the signal is good, the modem0 will connect with no problem but when it's bad, it will dissapear. So my question is, 1. Can we route mutiple provider using just the device name not actual ip as i get dynamic ip on modem0 and modem1? 2. Can we set multipath using the first config above while the actual device is missing (modem0)? Here's my bird.conf, ==================== router id 192.168.1.1; log syslog all; debug protocols all; protocol device DEVICE { scan time 10; } protocol direct DIRECT { interface "lo", "eth0", "modem0", "modem1"; } protocol static STATIC { check link yes; import all; route 0.0.0.0/0 via "modem0"; route 0.0.0.0/0 via "modem1"; } protocol kernel KERNEL { persist; scan time 15; export all; } ======================== Best regards,
