RIP and BIRD
by Ian Catchpole 04 Dec '00

04 Dec '00

Hi, I am attempting to setup RIP using BIRD. How do I emulate the use of source and trusted gateways that I used with our existing "gated" routing daemon? I've have tried several different ways of specifying interface addresses, but all get rejected due to invalid syntax. Ian Catchpole

Can you send me your bird.conf and kernel routing tables set up by bird, please? Also, it would be worth a try to mark OSPF as "disabled" in the configuration and then enable it manually from the command line. OSPF vs 2.0.36
by Network Administration 10 Jul '00

I've got a 2.0.36 kernel based router connected between a Cisco 2501 running OSPF and a LAN. The Cisco and BIRD converse, but only about the ethernet link between them, the other router ethernet is ignored. Suggestions? Is there a 'toggle' to flip someplace to get multicasting on multiple ethernets??
