OSPF v3 in VRF stuck in 'Alone' state

Hello, I'm running bird inside a vrf and I'm trying to setup an OSPF v3 ipv4 and ipv6 "peering" over a wireguard vpn inside that vrf. And bird does see the interface (as ptp), and sends 'HELLO' OSPF packets over the interface, these packets also arrive at the other side (where the same is happening). However bird doesn't seem to receive the incoming packets, they do appear in tcpdump but not in birds log output with 'debug all'. RPKI support without SSH transport

Ahoj BIRD Parents - I was wondering if there is a reason, why BIRD 2.0.x can't be built for RPKI support without libssh, although RPKI-RTR would also work on an unencrypted transport (as documented in the BIRD user documentation). I am asking, because I am building BIRD for a hardware router platform (Ubiquiti's EdgeRouters) and including libssh is, although doable, a real pain-in-the-rear, depending on the OS version and hardware architecture (4 variants in the EdgeOS world at the moment). Without libssh, which drags a whole slew of other library-crap behind it 🙄, BIRD is pretty lightweight and very easy to deploy. Just curious ... Thanks a lot (again) for this great piece of software! Hi Bernd, no, the routing "from the kernel" doesn't come via 'learn yes', but via RIB, I mean if I do 'route' it shows the directly connected networks. The problem is that if I use the Direct protocol, the command 'route' shows me two same directly connected networks, one coming from RIB and the other one coming from Bird. I tried protocol bgp { direct; }, but it doesn't change. Hi Benedikt, I am just learning Bird and I didn't want to use the Direct protocol because using it I have two same routes in the RIB for the directly connected networks, one coming from the kernel and the second one coming from the direct protocol. Direct protocol affects BGP

Hi all, why if I disable the direct protocol the BGP routes are not imported/exported? If I run show route, it is empty, while if I enable the direct protocol show route has directly connected routes and BGP routes. My configuration is very easy, two routers make a eBGP peering and they import and export all routes. I am using Bird 2.0.7. Thanks, Fabiano

Hi, we get this error about 7 times an hour on a BGP router running BIRD 2.0.7 on FreeBSD: <ERR> KRT: Error sending route xxxx/46 to kernel: File exists Is this something we should look into? thanks!

Hello, It appears you haven't launched BIRD for it to 1. create the socket, and 2. to listen on it. If you don't have any other manually started running instances (to verify, run ps -aux | grep bird and check if there are any other instances), you should just run systemctl start bird and if you want it to auto-start, systemctl enable bird. Yes, but how can I do that command if when I try to connect to birdc I get the error above? Proper way to start Bird

Hi all, which is the proper way to start Bird? I edited the bird.conf and now I am getting this error when I lunch birdc: Unable to connect to server control socket (/usr/local/var/run/bird.ctl): Connection refused I also did bird -p Thanks, Fabiano

birdc config not bring the bgp up

I'm using bird 1.6.8. I changed my bird config by adding bgp protocol to it. Then run command "birdc config" to apply the config. After that, the BGP session is not up: root@CL1:~# tcondr configureReading configuration from /home/talariuser/bird/etc/bird.conf Reconfiguredroot@CL1:~# tcondr BIRD 1.6.8 ready.
