Hello. I can not to answer on this question becouse I am not a author of this patch :-). Author says nothing long time about my ask to post this patch. I think becous in filter we have all filter posabilities to deside which realm we want to give to this route. Realms by their nature are the static thing and routes are dynamic so Alexander Zakharov (patch author) had deside to use filter features and not to do any new another "cool features". I only know that he wroute patch for his own needs, but it was my idea to count traffic by the realms: all is fan but outgoing taffic is wrongly counted. Forwarding traffic is counted like iproute2 docs tell, incomming is too, but outgoing is counted to realm "cosmos" or to another srtange place (I don't remember, it was 1 year ago). BGP aggregate routes?

Hello! I wonder if anybody has managed to make bird to aggregate adjacent BGP routes originated from static routes. I.e. to compact 2 route prefixes 10.10.0.0/24 10.11.0.0./24 to one less specific route 10.10.0.0/23 ? -- WBR, Yury Bokhoncovich, Senior System Administrator, NOC of F1 Group. Hi. For example I get 217.29.80.0/24, 217.29.81/24, 217.29.86.0/25 and 217.29.86.128/25. Each subnet should be route to its own gateway. I redistribute this routes and I want redistribute their by aggregated blocks : 217.29.80.0/23 and 217.29.86.0/24 becouse they both (or four not aggregated) are routed though me for my customers :-). Customers want to get routes to know subnets for which traffic is very chip. As I said befor 130-150 routes can be aggregated to 20-50 - depends on weather ;-). It is not a real problem for to have 150 routes, but my customers ask me to reduce numbers of routes. Routes aggregation

Hellow. Have anyone some ideas how to aggregate routes ? May be it possible whith a filter ? I have : ip ro sh | wc -l 157 And I want redistribute their aggregated. I don't know how. Thanks for supporting this list.

Hi. 2: Realms described in iproute2 documentation http://www.linuxgrill.com/iproute2-toc.html. It can be usefull with iptables or ip rule or some thing else ... Status of bird project

Hi. I have some questions about bird status. 1. Is a project alive ? Gated is dead, zebra is unstable (IMHO - I don't like zebra), quagga is strange fork from zebra. Is only bird for linux and its several routing tables support. May be I forget some routing daemon ? What else is created specialy for linux ? 2. Are the any plans to include realms support ? (I have a patch from my friend, but friend is lazy and he has stoped developing this patch) 3. Bird does not configure whith a linux-2.6.x kernel headers (I try 2.6.4 and 2.6.5 but it seems that all 2.6.x hase the same result) checking protocols... ok checking for linux/rtnetlink.h... no configure: error: Appropriate version of Linux kernel headers not found. If packet is sent to the connected network, source address is link scope address. With this config bird does not work correctly. Bird selects the global scope (194.246.102.1/32) address as primary and sends OSPF hello with this source address to the connected net. I think the algoritm of the primary address selection is not correct, because if there is link scope address it must be selected. A router interacts with other routers on its connected network (except BGP).
